It’s about selling your services and turning potential clients into paying customers. And one of the best ways to do this? A well-structured sales call! A sales call isn’t about being pushy or “selling” in a traditional sense—it’s about building a genuine connection, understanding a client’s needs, and confidently showing them why you’re the right photographer for the job. First things first, before you even get on the call you need to be prepared. Here are 3 steps to follow that will set you up for success:

When an inquiry comes in, respond quickly and offer a call within the next 24–48 hours. The faster you connect, the better your chances are of booking!

Use a Scheduling Tool

Tools like Calendly or HoneyBook allow clients to book a call at their convenience, reducing back-and-forth emails.

Do Your Homework

Review the inquiry details so you know their wedding date, venue, or vision beforehand.

Step 2: Build a Genuine Connection (The First 5 Minutes Matter!)

When you get on the call, don’t dive straight into pricing. Start with building a connection! Clients want to book with someone they feel comfortable with, so take a moment to break the ice. Some of my favorite talking points are asking how their wedding planning is going, complimenting their venue choice or engagement story, and most importantly, showing enthusiasm for their vision!

Step 3: Ask the Right Questions & Actively Listen

Instead of launching into a sales pitch, shift the focus to them. Your goal is to understand their needs, concerns, and what they truly want from their photographer. Here are some key questions to ask:

✅ “What’s most important to you when it comes to your wedding photos?”

(This helps you understand their priorities—whether it’s candids, details, or family moments.)

✅ “How do you want to feel when you look back at your photos?”

(This taps into emotions and storytelling.)

✅ “What’s been the most exciting (or stressful) part of wedding planning so far?”

(This allows you to offer solutions if they’re feeling overwhelmed.)

Step 4: Confidently Present Your Offer

Once you’ve listened to their needs, position yourself as the best solution. Instead of just listing your packages, tailor your offer based on what they said. Here’s how to structure this part:

Recap Their Priorities:

“It sounds like capturing candid, emotional moments is really important to you.”

Align with Their Vision:

“That’s exactly how I love to shoot—natural, storytelling-style images that bring your day to life.”

Present Your Package with Confidence:

“Based on what you’re looking for, I’d recommend my [X Package], which includes [list key features]. This would give you the perfect coverage for everything you’ve mentioned.”

Always explain the value behind your pricing. Instead of just saying, “This package is $4,000,” say: “This package is $4,000 so you can have complete peace of mind knowing every special moment is beautifully captured, without any stress.”
